Welcome to WNUA - Digital Broadcasting! "Deep Jazz" Around the Globe!

WNUA 95.5 was a pioneering radio station in the United States that broadcasted the smooth jazz genre from 1987 to 2009. In 1999, Ramsey Lewis, Karen Williams, Rick O'Dell, Loni Taylor, Danae Alexander, and Bill Cochran were some of the notable on-air hosts at the station. Although WNUA is no longer on the air, WNUA-DB (Digital Broadcasting) continues to pay tribute to jazz music with various forms of jazz. The smooth jazz genre has its roots in jazz-funk, which blended African and Latin American rhythms with traditional jazz instruments in the 1970s. Jazz fusion paved the way for artists such as Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, and Al Di Meola. Although the term "smooth jazz" was coined by marketing executives in the late 80s, the genre's roots can be traced back to jazz-rock and jazz-funk of the mid-1970s. WNUA-DB is honored to be a part of the WDHR Radio Broadcasting Digital Network and aims to produce a unique sound that fuses various musical styles while remaining true to the essence of jazz.
